US Consul General urges voters in Kurdistan Region to make informed choices ahead of elections

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The US Consul General in Erbil, Steve Bitner, has urged voters in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to familiarize themselves with the backgrounds and policies of political parties ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections. In a video message posted on the US Consulate General’s Facebook page, Bitner emphasized the significance of informed voting.

“We encourage voters in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region to learn each party's priorities during this time,” said Bitner. 

The Consul General continued by highlighting how election campaign season is an important stage in the election process, and how voters must be informed of its precedents. "This way, they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families when they vote,” he added.

With the election campaign in full swing, Bitner’s message underscores the importance of civic engagement and informed decision-making as citizens prepare to cast their votes. The US Consulate continues to support democratic processes and transparent elections in the Kurdistan Region.
