ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw met today with the Erbil Election Security Committee and the head of the Erbil office of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) to discuss plans and ensure preparations for the upcoming sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament elections.

During the meeting, participants focused on key measures to ensure the elections are conducted smoothly.

“After reviewing the necessary provisions for the voting process, preparations have been finalized for 48 private polling stations and 389 general polling stations in Erbil province,” the statement read.

Officials also emphasized the readiness of internal security forces and public service offices, stressing that the elections must be held in a "peaceful and stable environment."

Governor Khoshnaw called on both citizens and political parties to collaborate during the election period to create a calm atmosphere, ensuring a smooth voting experience for all.

One of the main points of the meeting was the enforcement of decisions made by the High Security Committee, particularly the restriction on voters bringing mobile phones into polling stations on election days.

It was also noted that there will be no curfew, and traffic will flow as usual, minimizing disruption on Election Day.

Additionally, all media outlets intending to cover the elections are required to register with the IHEC in advance and comply with tax obligations set by the commission.

Governor Khoshnaw concluded the meeting by expressing his hopes for a successful and peaceful election in Erbil and across the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and coordination for a fair electoral process.
