Iraqi Federal’s Interior Minister stated “prohibiting drug smuggle is not easy”

Funds have been provided to build shared patrols in which 30 patrol are said to have been formed to preclude all kinds of smuggling drugs into the country.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Interior Minister Abdul Amir Shammari stated “in a coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government, we have signed a security agreement with Iran, but there are still some insecure gaps and channels, especially in the first area in ​​Sulaimani province.” 

The Iraqi Federal Ministry of Interior confirmed of having a committee with Turkey’s cooperation to control and monitor the borders on that side.

Funds have been provided to build shared patrols in which 30 patrol are said to have been formed to preclude all kinds of smuggling drugs into the country. 

However, lately, many whistleblowers keep coming forward to reveal serious information regarding different matters.

Lahur Sheikh Jangi Talabany disclosed “PUK’s highest senior brought a man from Syria with someone’s help from Baghdad. They set up a drug factory in Sulaimani, later they accused also pushed down the factory ownership on to a Peshmerga and denied their ownership to the factory”  

From Governmental part the Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed concern about drug misusing and addiction, stated in a speech to the communities in Kurdistan Region “in order to prevent drugs and clear Kurdistan, the factory producing drugs must be destroyed,” 

According to the sources, the political party that controls Sulaimani and has the authority in that province, put the city at a big risk, and endangered the future of it. Within their authority, they are obstructing the work of the government and city's admin authority. 

Further to the security issues in the province and areas around, it is the first time in the history, an illegal drug-making factory is being built in the city. 

Also, according to the statistics by the Kurdistan Regional Government, the highest number of drug seizing and prevention actions have been statistically published.
