PM Masrour Barzani urges public to "reward service and honesty"

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani cast his ballot at 8:00 AM on Sunday, at a polling station in Pirmam for the sixth Kurdistan parliamentary elections.

In his remarks following the vote, Prime Minister Barzani urged eligible voters to participate in this crucial democratic process. "I hope all citizens with voting rights will go to the polling stations today to decide on their future representatives and government," he stated.

The Prime Minister expressed his desire for a peaceful electoral process, adding, "I hope today the people of Kurdistan will reward service and honesty, and hold accountable those parties who play with the destiny and rights of the Kurdistan Region's people."

"I hope for Kurdistan's success, and I am confident that the people of Kurdistan will always prevail," Barzani concluded.

The general voting began at 7:00 AM across the region's four electoral districts, with 2,686,578 eligible voters distributed as follows:

- Erbil: 933,115 voters

- Sulaimani: 1,008,412 voters

- Duhok: 682,791 voters

- Halabja: 59,300 voters

The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq has established 1,266 polling centers with 6,318 voting stations across these districts:

- Erbil: 498 centers, 2,213 stations

- Sulaimani: 477 centers, 2,373 stations

- Duhok: 264 centers, 1,596 stations

- Halabja: 27 centers, 136 stations

A total of 1,191 candidates are competing for 100 parliamentary seats. The special voting held on October 18 saw a 97 percent turnout rate, according to the Electoral Commission.
