“Electoral process has been running very smoothly since its commencement”, says Iraq's Electoral Commission
"The general voting process in the Kurdistan Region's provinces is proceeding smoothly following the successful completion of the special voting period," Abu Souda stated.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Assistant Spokesperson for Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced today that polling stations across the Kurdistan Region opened at 7:00 AM for general voting, following the completion of the special voting period that lasted 48 hours.
Nebras Abu Souda, the assistant media spokesman in the Electoral Commission, confirmed that polling stations will remain open until 6:00 PM, when they will be electronically closed.
"The general voting process in the Kurdistan Region's provinces is proceeding smoothly following the successful completion of the special voting period," Abu Souda stated.
Special voting facilities have been designated for prominent figures at specific locations, including Baghdad's Rashid Hotel, as well as dedicated stations in both Erbil and Sulaimani, according to the spokesperson.
"Thank God, the electoral process has been running very smoothly since its commencement," Abu Souda added. He also noted that preliminary results will be announced by the Commission within 24 hours after the polls close.
The statement comes as part of IHEC's ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and efficiency in the electoral process across both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
