ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani extended his congratulations to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on the successful completion of the sixth round of parliamentary elections, which took place on Sunday.

In a message of congratulations, Sudani praised all political parties in the Kurdistan Region for their participation in the democratic process. “The continuation of the democratic option for our people is a sign of respect for democratic values,” he stated, underscoring the importance of democracy in Iraq.

Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections see 2,686,578 eligible voters across four constituencies—Erbil, Duhok, Sulaimani, and Halabja—taking part in the democratic process.

As the KRG prepares to form a new parliament, the successful conduct of these elections marks a pivotal moment for the political landscape in the Kurdistan Region, reaffirming its dedication to democratic governance and political stability.

Sudani's message highlights the cooperative spirit between the federal government and the KRG, fostering a collaborative approach to governance in Iraq. The successful elections are a testament to ongoing efforts to strengthen democracy and political engagement in the region.
