Israeli airstrikes rock Damascus in most intense bombardment in months
Sources close to the Syrian government forces stated that government units responded to an Israeli attack targeting locations west of Homs city.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Residents of western Damascus reported that Israeli airstrikes conducted late Friday night were the most intense bombardment in recent months, with over 10 explosions heard alongside the sound of ground-based anti-aircraft missiles that intercepted several Israeli projectiles.
The German Press Agency (DPA), citing eyewitness accounts, reported that fires broke out at several military locations in western Damascus following the strikes.
Sources close to the Syrian government forces stated that government units responded to an Israeli attack targeting locations west of Homs city.
They also reported engaging Israeli missiles in Syria's coastal Tartus province and at a Syrian army position in the rural Sweida region of southern Syria.
In Daraa province, local residents reported hearing military aircraft flying over southern Syria, though no strikes were conducted in the province itself.
The latest escalation marks a significant intensification of Israeli military activity in Syria, particularly in the vicinity of Damascus, where Israel has historically targeted what it claims are Iranian-linked military installations.
