ERBIL (Kurdistan24) -  The Erbil General Security Directorate's Economic Division has uncovered and shut down a large-scale counterfeit car battery operation, leading to multiple arrests and the seizure of thousands of fraudulent products.

Following an extensive investigation, security forces raided "Real King," a car battery import company, after gathering evidence of systematic fraud.

The company was found to be importing batteries from Iran and Turkey before manipulating their specifications at a warehouse near Erbil.

"The operation involved altering the batteries' amperage ratings from 25-30 amps to 60 amps by applying counterfeit stickers of reputable brands," said a security directorate statement. "The company had already distributed more than 20,000 fraudulent batteries throughout the Kurdistan Region's markets."

After presenting evidence to the security investigating judge, authorities arrested the company owner, identified as K.W.J., along with a foreign worker, V.C.C.

Both suspects are under investigation for their roles in the counterfeiting scheme. Security forces seized 11,000 batteries during the operation.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of the Kurdistan Region's security forces to combat commercial fraud and protect consumers from potentially dangerous counterfeit automotive products.
