Iranian President Says Iran Ready to End War with US ‘From Position of Strength’
“It is better that we bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity,” Pezeshkian said during a meeting with doctors, according to Iranian state media.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Friday that Tehran should seek to end its months-long war with the United States, arguing that Iran is now in a position of strength and that the conflict has demonstrated Washington’s international isolation.
“It is better that we bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity,” Pezeshkian said during a meeting with doctors, according to Iranian state media.
He claimed that the international community had recognized Iran’s victory and accused the United States of attacking schools, hospitals and infrastructure in violation of international rules.
Pezeshkian’s remarks came after Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused Washington of “economic terrorism” and “crimes against humanity” over its decision to intensify sanctions on Tehran.
“The perpetrators and instigators of these sanctions are deserving of trial and punishment for committing such heinous crimes,” the ministry said in a statement carried by state media.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday that Washington would seek to “collapse” the Iranian regime through a campaign of increased economic pressure, nearly six months after the war began.
China criticized the US approach, saying sanctions and pressure would not resolve the Middle East conflict.
Beijing’s comments followed Washington’s call for governments, including China, to join efforts to isolate Iran’s economy.
Asked about US President Donald Trump’s threats, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Friday that “sanctions and pressure will not help resolve the issue.”
“China calls on all relevant parties to take responsible measures and resolve the problem through political and diplomatic means,” Lin said.
