Cooperation between Peshmerga Forces, U.S., International Coalition Forces.

Colonel Rice expressed his satisfaction with the progress the reform process has reached and reaffirmed his country's constant logistical support to the Peshmerga forces as well as further cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – It’s been prominent over past few weeks in the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, an extensive series of meetings and work took place between the Peshmerga and Coalition Forces.

With the latest co-working and collaboration by the Ministry of Peshmerga, the Commander Lieutenant General of the Support Force I, Sihad Barzani welcomed the Commander of the Coalition Forces in Kurdistan Region, on Thursday, November 7th, 2024.

In the meeting, the Coalition Forces support to Peshmerga in Kurdistan Region was discussed, and in a post through X Platform, the Ministry of Peshmerga highlighted the meeting as a successful session.

On the other hand, the Lieutenant General Issa Ozer, the Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, welcomed Colonel Rice, the Head of the Security Cooperation Office at the US Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region and his accompanying delegation, on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024.  

That unique meeting was attended by a number of seniors and director generals in the ministry too, the chief of staff discussed the current circumstance of Peshmerga and specifically regarding the issue of reform.

Lt. Gen. Ozer pointed out the reforms process to carry on and emphasized their serious intentions about making it successful, and in this regards he stressed that more coordination and cooperation are needed from the International Coalition forces.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to pay more attention to the relations between the Ministry of Peshmerga, U.S. and International Coalition Forces in Kurdistan Region.

Also, the Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, Mr. Ozer, Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtiar Mohammed Sadiq, Secretary General, Colonel Rab Brandstetter, Commander of Coalition Forces in the Kurdistan Region, the Directors General of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs held a special meeting regarding the coordination and joint cooperation between the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and the International Coalition Forces in the Kurdistan Region, on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.

The parties focused on the consistent support of the reform process and reorganizing of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces.

Furthermore, pointing out the support from the International Coalition in Kurdistan Region and their coordination with Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces considered as significant and necessary to unite the forces in the region.

In the session, the seniors from the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs thanked the military team and the advisory staff by the coalition forces, as well as referred to the important role of the coalition forces military teams in Kurdistan Region.

Those series and intensive work has been and will continue with the international seniors e.g. German Parliamentarian & Minister of State at the Ministry of Defense, Representative and Director of UAE Cooperation Training, Director of Foreign Assistance Programs at the US Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region and an accompanying delegation.

The purpose of the visits and meetings are to ensure the assistance to the Peshmerga forces, to enhance the logistical capabilities of the Peshmerga forces and in such a way that the assistance will have an impact on strengthening the capabilities of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces

Furthermore, before and now cooperation and important roles in defeating ISIS and terrorist groups, the logistics assistance described highly necessary and are appreciated by the Peshmerga, and the requirement for that the assistance to continue.
