ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Ahmed Davutoğlu, leader of the Future Party and former Turkish Prime Minister, emphasized the importance of local solutions to regional challenges during the fifth MEPS forum in Dohuk on Friday.
Speaking exclusively to Kurdistan24, Davutoğlu addressed the region's complex situation: "The Middle East faces significant challenges that require resolution. We need wise people to come together and address these issues."
The former Turkish Prime Minister emphasized his belief in locally-driven solutions: "Middle Eastern issues can only be resolved from within, not through external intervention."
Regarding the peace process in Turkey's Kurdish regions, Davutoğlu maintained his supportive stance: "We have supported resolving the Kurdish issue in the past, and we continue to support any steps that are important for democracy."
Davutoğlu's comments are particularly significant given his historical role in Turkish politics and his previous involvement in Kurdish peace initiatives during his tenure as Prime Minister. His emphasis on internal solutions reflects a growing regional consensus that sustainable peace must be built through local dialogue and understanding rather than external intervention.
The former Prime Minister's continued support for democratic resolution of the Kurdish issue represents an important voice in Turkish politics, especially given the complex history of Kurdish-Turkish relations and previous peace process attempts.
His participation in the MEPS forum in Kurdistan Region demonstrates the ongoing importance of regional dialogue and the potential for former high-ranking officials to contribute to peace-building efforts.
