Qatar Emir and Senior Officials Condole President Barzani Over Family Bereavement

Qatar’s emir, deputy emir and prime minister sent messages of condolence to Kurdistan leaders following the death of Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, a prominent member of the Barzani family.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Qatar’s top leadership has sent a series of condolence messages to leaders of the Kurdistan Region following the death of Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, the elder brother of the Barzani family.

Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani conveyed their condolences to President Masoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, and Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

In their messages on Tuesday, the Qatari leaders expressed their condolences and sympathy over the death of Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, asking God to grant the deceased paradise and give his family patience and comfort.

On Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, President Masoud Barzani announced the death of his elder brother, Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani.

In his message, Barzani described his late brother as a descendant of Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, a national and religious leader, and said he had been an example of religious devotion, piety and benevolence, as well as a prominent and respected figure within the Barzani family.

The funeral and mourning ceremony for Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani was held on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, in Barzan.
