Arctic air mass to bring snow, rain to Kurdistan Region

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology has issued a 48-hour weather forecast predicting significant weather changes across the Kurdistan Region.

According to today's forecast, the currently partly cloudy skies will transition to overcast conditions by evening. The region will experience the effects of a rain system combined with an Arctic air mass moving into the area.

Light rain is expected to begin in various areas tonight. As temperatures drop, snowfall will commence in border areas during the late night hours.

For Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, the weather system will intensify due to the strengthening Arctic air mass influence. Snow is forecast for all border regions and mountainous areas, particularly those above 2,500 meters in elevation.

The forecast also indicates:
- Intermittent light to moderate rainfall across various regions
- Wind speeds potentially exceeding 25 km/h
- Unstable weather conditions throughout the region
