ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Kurdistan Region President (KRP) Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding women's rights and eradicating all forms of violence and discrimination against them.

In his statement, Kurdistan Region President Barzani emphasized the essential role of women's empowerment in fostering a fairer and more progressive society. “Women's empowerment and strengthening their position is the cornerstone of building a more just and progressive society,” he stated.

Highlighting Kurdistan's leadership in advancing women's rights, KRP Barzani noted the region's efforts to ensure equal participation of women in political and administrative spheres alongside men. He stressed that women are not only pivotal in decision-making processes but also serve as drivers of change and sustainable development.

The Region's President underscored the importance of collaboration between government bodies, civil society organizations, and the media to promote awareness and instill values of tolerance and equality. “Eliminating violence against women requires everyone's joint efforts to ensure building a bright and peaceful future for all members of society,” he urged.

Marking the day with a promise to the women of Kurdistan, Kurdistan Region's President Barzani vowed to continue working towards achieving justice and equality while strengthening women's capacities to play a vital role in nation-building.

Women's empowerment and strengthening their position is the cornerstone of building a more just and progressive society.

The Kurdistan Region has been a pioneer in supporting women's rights and providing opportunities for their participation in political and administrative life equally with men. We believe that women are not only a key partner in decision-making but also a foundation for change and sustainable development.

On this day, we call for greater cooperation between government institutions, civil society organizations, and the media to further spread awareness and strengthen the values of tolerance and equality. We also emphasize that eliminating violence against women requires everyone's joint efforts to ensure building a bright and peaceful future for all members of society.

On this occasion, we promise the women of Kurdistan that we will continue working tirelessly to achieve justice and equality and strengthen their capabilities to fulfill their important role in serving and building the country.
