Sulaimani's 6th International Book Fair opens with record participation from 12 countries

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The sixth International Book Fair opened its doors on Thursday in Sulaimani, featuring over 200 local and international publishing companies from 12 different countries.

The event, organized under the supervision of the Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Culture, showcases thousands of new book titles across various genres and languages.

The week-long exhibition, which commenced today, will run until December 8, 2024. In a notable first, several university libraries are participating in the fair, including Sulaymaniyah University, which is displaying its collection of academic publications.

The fair will be open daily to readers and visitors from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The Sulaimani International Book Fair has become one of the most significant cultural events in the Kurdistan Region since its inception.

The fair serves as a vital platform for cultural exchange and literary development in the region, bringing together publishers, authors, and readers from across the Middle East and beyond.

Sulaimani, often referred to as the cultural capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, has a rich history of literary and intellectual contributions to Kurdish culture.
