President Barzani, al-Azhar delegation discuss academic collaboration, regional security

The meeting also discussed the threats of resurgence of terrorism, extremist ideologies, and the need for coordination between all parties to protect peace and stability in the broader region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, President Masoud Barzani received high-ranking delegation from al-Azhar scholars in Pirmam.

The delegate included scholars Dr. Abbas Shuman, Secretary-General of al-Azhar's Senior Scholars Council, Dr. Salama Daoud, President of al-Azhar University, Wael Bakhit, Vice President of the World Organization of al-Azhar Graduates, and Ahmad Fawzi, Director of Foreign Affairs at al-Azhar University.

The visiting delegation, while expressing their happiness for the visit to Kurdistan Region, commended the noticeable peace, stability, revival, and progress in the Kurdistan Region.

The visiting delegation commended Kurdistan Region’s stance towards religious coexistence and tolerance, while also underlining the importance of peaceful coexistence and tolerance for various nations and religions in the Kurdistan Region.

They also described Kurdistan Region as a true model for coexistence and tolerance.

For his part, President Barzani thanked the visiting delegation and highlighted the historical and friendly relationship between Kurdistan Region and Egypt.

President Barzani also hoped that these relations are further developed, particularly in academic collaborations as well as establishing more developed coordination with Religious and Academic centers at al-Azhar University.

The meeting also discussed the threats of resurgence of terrorism, extremist ideologies, and the need for coordination between all parties to protect peace and stability in the broader region.

The recent regional development was another part of discussions between President Barzani and the visiting delegation from al-Azhar University.
