Syrian govt forces withdraw from border areas with Israel

Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - Syrian government forces evacuated their positions in Quneitra province on the Israeli border on Saturday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, joining areas that have fallen out of government control within days following an unprecedented attack by opposition factions.
Rami Abdulrahman, director of the Observatory, told AFP that, "Regime forces evacuated military and security positions while civil servants left their posts, leaving the province (of Quneitra)... free of the Syrian army for the very first time."
