ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – In a congratulatory message, the Kurdistan Region President (KRP) and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Vice President, Nechirvan Barzani lauded Kurdistan Women Union (KWU) on their 72nd anniversary of the union establishment, on Wednesday.
The KDP Vice President stated "on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Kurdistan Women Union establishment, I extend my warmest congratulations to the Kurdistan Women Union, I also highly value their important role in progressing the society and strengthening the equality and justice values.
“Since its establishment in 1952, the KWU has been a symbol of national struggle and fight, their continuous work is to meet women's rights and strengthen their position in all the areas of life.
"During its long fight, the KWU proved to be the key partner in the development of a civil society, has been always a source of strength and innovation to defend the rights and ensure a better future for women in Kurdistan.
"ON this occasion, we kindly remind of the KWU's role, suffering and sacrifices, we reaffirmed our full support its work and efforts to protect women's rights and build a more developed society based on equality and justice.
