UK Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin meets with KRP Nechirvan Barzani

Kurdistan Region President (KRP), Nechirvan Barzani lauded the UK's continuous role and support to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as extended gratitude to the British forces for their assistance in the reform process within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and the Peshmerga reunifying.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin accompanied by high-ranking official seniors welcomed by the Kurdistan Region President (KRP), Nechirvan Barzani, on Thursday. 

The meeting discussed the current situation in Iraq, Kurdistan Region, the rapid developments in Syria, coalitions forces responsibilities towards fighting against ISIS and the UK's relations with Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

The Kurdistan Region President (KRP), Nechirvan Barzani lauded the UK's continuous role and support to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as extended gratitude to the British forces for their assistance in the reform process within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and the Peshmerga reunifying.

On his part, Admiral Sir Radakin reiterated UK's commitment to further support as well as strengthen joint cooperation with the Kurdistan Region (KR) and Iraq.

His Excellency also stressed the importance of the continued cooperation and coordination to ensure the successful fight against terrorism threat to maintain the stability in the region.

According to a statement by the presidency office, the session also discussed several other matters of the mutual interests. 

The meeting was attended by the Vice President of Kurdistan Region, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, Chief of Peshmerga Staff and British Ambassador to Iraq. 

In a message posted through the X platform, HE Kurdistan Region President, Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the continuous relations between the Kurdistan Region and UK to address the common challenges, promote peace and stability in the region.
