Nineveh Criminal Court sentences Al-Haitahm Hall owner in Hamdaniyah for 10 years in jail

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The most updated news about the tragic incident occurred by a wedding fire in Qaraqosh town in Hamdaniya, on September 27, 2023, the Nineveh Criminal Court issued a 10-year prison (interim) sentence to the owner of the Al-Haitham Hall, the hall for celebrations in Hamdaniya, on Thursday.
The deadly fire incident left hundreds killed and injured, however rescue team rushed to the location to save any attendees who were to celebrate a wedding in that hall.

According to the court decision, the second board of the Nineveh Criminal Court sentenced the owner of Al-Haytham Hall "due to negligence has been detected as a result of the thorough investigations and witnesses, that large fire in Hamdaniya District led to the death and injury of many people"
At the time, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced "arresting of 14 suspects, including 10 workers, the hall’s owner, and three individuals linked to setting off fireworks during the event"

In the written order by the court, the plaintiffs are called on to claim compensations before the civil courts as their personal right and the injured complainants to reserve the right to claim, but after the decision will be finalized.
