Kurdish Representative, in Damascus, talks about Kurdish aim in post-Al-Assad Syria

"Everyone says what happened, the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, is very good, we should support a Syrian administerial government, and to give them a chance as they have come on a collapsed country.” KSNC representative added.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Dr. Abdulhakim Bashar, the Vice President of the Syrian National Opposition and Representative on behalf of the Kurdish-Syrian National Council (KSNC), in Damascus was interviewed by Kurdistan 24, on Sunday. 

He made spotlights on the current situation in Syria, moving that transition stage of the war-torn out-country forward and towards the formation of a new government interim or transitional-like government, amendments in the constitution, creating a Kurdish Regional Federation and the position of the Kurds people in Syria. 

"The purpose of our journey to Damascus as KSNC representative, is to be at the heart of events and to see how it goes in Damascus, it is the capital city, we want to know what are people thinking of? The way the forces, who were alliance with Al-Assad's regime and who were opposing them, are thinking? What expectations on the ground can be noticed from the next Syrian government? If we get the answers to those questions, we will make our own decisions and take our own steps on that base.” Dr. Abdulhakim Bashar stated. 

He highlighted their meetings with many independent as well as political parties, independent people, clan leaders, dynast, clan leaders and succession families, especially the Alawists, "everyone says what happened, the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, is very good, we should support a Syrian administerial government, and to give them a chance as they have come on a collapsed country.” KSNC representative added. 

Dr. Abdulhakim Bashar believed that the Syrian interim or provisional-like government must take some important steps in the coming four months, one of them is to form a unified army, one united administration, creating security and stability, preventing civilians killing and improving the services.

"At this stage we, political forces, must support the provisional-like governments actions, not the opposite, to create obstacles ahead of it.” He further added.  

In an enquiry regarding the Kurds and their role in the administerial governance raised to KSNC representative, he said "it is true that none of Kurds have been appointed as a minister in this provisional government, but as I have been told, the Kurds and all other components in the country will have a role and representation in the next government, until the situation in Syria is calmed, and the refugees return to their country, it should be like that" 

Concerning the constitutional amendments in Syria, Dr. confirmed "the decision of amending the Syrian constitution has been made, but right now it is not identified how and in what way, it is said that many changes will be made"

He made sure that Kurds' role in amending and demand their rights in the constitution is definite, stressed that "our perspective on the general situation in Syria and the Kurd people's cause is very clear, we want the name and national anthem of Syria get changed, as well as to establish a Kurdish regional federal in Syria"  

Regarding the HTS leader, Ahmad al-Sharaa's perspective on the Kurdish cause, KSNC's rep. viewed as positive, and emphasized that Al-Sharaa has a positive view about the Kurdish issue in Syria, he is also, closely aware of the issue.

Dr. Abdulhakim further reiterated that Al-Sharaa has repeatedly reaffirmed "Kurds must play their role in Syria, Kurds people should not be mixed with PKK, according to the information I have received and been given, he, very respectfully mentions President Massoud Barzani among his accompanies"
