KRG officials participate in IGF in Kingdom of Saudia Arabia

For the first time, a team from Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), as a delegation, is participating in the forum, it is understood that on the fourth day panel, Ano Jawhar, the KRG's Minister of Transport and communications will deliver his speech.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The 19th annual gathering for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is hosted, this year 2024, by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh, it has already started since Sunday, December 15th, 2024. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation have been invited to the forum too, 

It lasts for 4 days, from December 15th to 19th, in a hybrid version, i.e. online and onsite participating, this year's title is “Building our Multistakeholder Digital Future”, the forum will confer on 

- The troubles experienced from the digital online service

- How to combat the online threats faced nowadays 

- To advocate for a global, connect, trustworthy Internet, and showcasing Internet fragmentation 

- To focus on the important work by the UN Internet Society Community (ISC) service.
- To assist the new generation of an Internet Leading Community by providing necessary information and skills to be able to defend, and to take action.
- To support the IGF and its multistakeholder model in the context of the ongoing Global Digital Compact process

The first global UN Internet Governance (IGF) was held in 2006 in Athens, Greece. Since then, global IGFs have been held worldwide, from Brazil to India, Egypt, Lithuania, Kenya, Azerbaijan, Poland, and the last one 18th was in Kyoto, Japan.
