PM Masrour Barzani, UN Spec. Rep. for Iraq, emphasize stability in Kurdistan Region, Iraq

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Dr. Mohamed al-Hassan, the Special Representative, Secretary General and Head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) met with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, on Thursday, in Erbil, according to the announcement by the KRG.
According to the statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the general circumstances in both of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq discussed.
Furthermore, the latest developments in Syria have been conferred on since Dr. Al-Hassan's last visit to the region, the meeting also focused on the security and stability in Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
Regarding the situation in Syria, they stressed the importance and needs of respecting and protecting the rights of different components, including Kurd people.
The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining the security and stability as well as deterring the negative consequences lead to the conflicts and tensions in the region.
The discussions in the session also covered resolving the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Regional and federal governments, getting the constitutional rights assured as well as securing the financial entitlements for the region.
