Dutch Defence Minister meets with KR President Nechirvan Barzani
The two sides emphasized the importance of constant cooperation and collaboration between the Peshmerga forces, Iraqi army and Dutch military forces within the international coalitions limits to fight terrorism.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced that a meeting was held between the Kurdistan Region President (KRP) Nechirvan Barzani, Minster of Defence from the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans and his accompanied delegates as well as a number of high-ranking seniors from the KRG office attended too, in Erbil, on Monday.
The two sides emphasized the importance of constant cooperation and collaboration between the Peshmerga forces, Iraqi army and Dutch military forces within the international coalitions limits to fight terrorism.
Highlights were made on several important topics in the meeting, such as the political and security situation in Iraq as well as Kurdistan Region's role to strengthen the stability and security of the greater region, efforts to reform and reunify Peshmerga under the supervision of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MoPA) and other related shared interests.
KRP, Nechirvan Barzani extended gratitude to the Netherlands for its support to the Peshmerga forces to fight against ISIS, he also commended the role of the Dutch forces to train and further strengthen the capabilities of the Peshmerga.
The Defense Minister of the Netherlands emphasized his country's commitment to support Kurdistan Region and, in general, Iraq country for security and stability.
Furthermore, he highlighted that Kurdistan Region is a key partner to fight against terrorism also to insure the security in the greater region.
Another important topic that views exchanged about was the situation of the Yezidis and efforts to help them to return to their homeland, the latest rapid developments in Syria and its consequences included in the discussion.
The two sides agreed on the necessity of consistent co-working between the two states.
