Erbil (Kurdistan24) –In an important development concerning Turkey's Kurdish question, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel has addressed recent top-level meetings between the Peoples' Democratic and Equality Party (DEM Party) and imprisoned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan at İmralı Prison.
Özel announced that the CHP will organize a meeting with the DEM Party delegation after the New Year, highlighting their openness to dialogue with all political parties.
He also indicated a clear stance on tackling the Kurdish issue, stating openly that "The Turkish Parliament is the appropriate venue and ground for resolving this matter."
This announcement follows a noteworthy meeting between DEM Party representatives and Abdullah Ocalan at İmralı Prison on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024.
According to DEM Party's consequent statement, Ocalan, who was reported to be in good health and high spirits, carried out an assessment of recent developments in the Middle East and Turkey, offering "positive solution proposals against imposed dark scenarios."
Significantly, Ocalan expressed readiness to support dialogue initiatives, stating, "I have the ability and will for essential positive participation in Erdoğan and Bahçeli's call for dialogue."
He highlighted that the current era represents a time for "peace, democracy, and brotherhood for Turkey and the region."
