ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A senior delegation from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) visited the chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) on Thursday as part of ongoing efforts to revive peace talks concerning the Kurdish issue. Additional meetings with other political parties are scheduled for next week.

The DEM Party delegation, led by Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, met with MHP chairman Devlet Bahçeli in Ankara following discussions with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. The delegation also included Pervin Buldan, a DEM Party parliamentary member, and Ahmet Türk, a prominent Kurdish politician from Turkey's Kurdistan (Bakur).

Önder stated that the meetings are centered on the outcomes of recent discussions at Imrali Prison with Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan, emphasizing the potential for a renewed peace process with Turkish political factions.

Next Monday, the DEM Party delegation will continue their outreach, visiting the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), and other parties. Önder expressed optimism that the new round of talks could yield positive results in addressing the Kurdish issue.

The delegation's engagement follows a Saturday visit to Imrali Prison, where they met with Ocalan. In a statement released after the visit, the DEM Party revealed that Ocalan had voiced readiness to participate in peace negotiations, signaling a potential opening for renewed dialogue.
