ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In the past four years, more than 13,000 authors in the Kurdistan Region have been issued license numbers to publish their manuscripts, reflecting a growing trend in local literary production.
According to records from the Department of License of Public Libraries in the Kurdistan Region, the issuance of license numbers for book printing has steadily increased each year. The majority of these publications focus on literature and religion, highlighting key areas of interest for Kurdish readers and writers.
Redar Sadraddin, head of the License Department at the General Directorate of Public Libraries, told Kurdistan24 on Sunday that 13,678 license numbers had been issued over the past four years. “The issuance of license numbers to authors for publishing books is increasing yearly. Last year alone, 2,703 entrustment numbers were granted,” Sadraddin stated.
He noted that most published works fall within the fields of literature, religion, and history. “We are witnessing a rise in the publication of original works by Kurdish writers, compared to previous years when translated books dominated the market,” he added.
