PM Masrour Barzani Engages in Strategic Dialogue with US DAS Victoria Taylor

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Victoria Taylor, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Iraq and Iran discussed on Wednesday the speed paced developments in Iraq and Syria.
Prime Minister Barzani and DAS Taylor also discussed developing the bilateral ties and the formation of the new Kurdistan Region Government (KRG) cabinet.
“DAS Taylor emphasized the importance of the Kurdistan Region's position and role as a partner of his country.” said a statement by the Prime Minister’s office.
The two senior officials were on the same page about the importance of resuming Kurdistan oil export as soon as possible. “Resuming Kurdistan oil export is for the benefit of all and its halting caused big loss to the Iraqi general budget,” said the statement.
Additionally, the talks addressed the need for Baghdad to fulfill its financial commitments to the Kurdistan Region. Prime Minister Barzani reiterated that the Kurdistan Region has adhered to all its budgetary obligations and, thus, deserves timely financial disbursements from Baghdad.
Security and stability in Syria were also crucial points of discussion, with both sides agreeing on the importance of safeguarding the rights of the Kurdish people and other communities within the country.
