Mazloum Abdi expresses optimism about Kurdish unity following meeting with President Masoud Barzani

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Mazloum Abdi, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), expressed optimism and commitment to unity following a meeting with President Masoud Barzani. In a statement shared on social media platform X on Friday, Abdi described the meeting as “a pleasure” and emphasized its significance for the future of the Kurdish people and the broader region. 

“We discussed the process of change that Syria is undergoing, and together we reaffirmed that the Kurdish position in Syria must be united,” Abdi stated. He underscored the importance of a peaceful dialogue with Damascus to safeguard the rights of the Kurdish people. 

Abdi also highlighted the shared responsibility for regional stability, noting, “The importance of Kurdish unity and stability in the region is our responsibility, and we will cooperate.” 

The meeting reflects a strengthened commitment to fostering solidarity and collaboration among Kurdish leaders, promoting peaceful solutions, and ensuring the protection of Kurdish rights during a time of significant change in Syria.

On Thursday, President Barzani met with SDF Commander Abdi, in which they emphasized Kurdish unity.
