KRG PM Barzani and Belgian Prime Minister Discuss Strengthening Economic Ties at WEF in Davos

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discussed with Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium on Tuesday, strengthening trade and economic ties. 

"I thanked him for Belgium’s support, and we exchanged views on the Kurdistan Region's constitutional rights and regional developments," Prime Minister Barzani posted on his personal X account.

In the meeting, the Belgian Prime Minister touched on the important position enjoyed by the Kurdistan Region, stressing at the same time his country's keenness to strengthen relations between the two sides, said a statement by the KRG, following the meeting held on the sidelines of PM Barzani’s participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting. 

For his part, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Belgium for its continuous support for the Kurdistan Region.

According to the KRG statement, the two sides also agreed to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation and coordination, especially in the areas of trade and economic exchange.

“The meeting also discussed the importance of protecting the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region, in addition to the situation in Iraq and the region in general, and the latest developments and changes in Syria,” said the KRG statement. 

Prime Minister Barzani delivered a speech on Monday on the sidelines of the 55th WEF in Davos, Switzerland, highlighting the Kurdistan Region's role in regional stability and economic development.
