US played crucial role in preventing potential Israeli attack on Iraq, says Iraqi National Security Advisor

In a significant development, al-Araji announced that the mission of the international coalition in Iraq is set to conclude in September 2026.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji confirmed in an interview with al-Arabiya on Friday that the United States played a crucial role in preventing a potential Israeli attack on Iraq. This diplomatic intervention highlights Iraq’s growing stability and its strengthened international relationships. 

In a significant development, al-Araji announced that the mission of the international coalition in Iraq is set to conclude in September 2026.

Al-Araji also emphasized Iraq’s commitment to maintaining national security by ensuring that all weapons remain under state control. He dismissed negative perceptions of the country, asserting that Iraq continues to progress and strengthen its global standing. 

Further reinforcing Iraq’s security strategy, the government is actively working to remove Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) fighters from Iraqi territory. Additionally, al-Araji reassured that Iraq’s borders with Syria are secure, with no immediate threats. He highlighted the importance of increased cooperation between Iraq and Syria in combating terrorism, reflecting Baghdad’s commitment to regional stability.
