ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan24 has conducted an exclusive investigation into a London-based property owned by Asma al-Assad, the wife of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, uncovering key details about its purchase, ownership, and its current status.

As the first Kurdish and international media outlet to delve into this matter, Kurdistan24 has obtained full documentation regarding the residence, which has drawn significant public interest among Syrians. Many believe that the Assad family’s wealth should be reclaimed for the Syrian people, given the years of war and devastation endured by the country.

A Hidden Residence in London

Kurdistan24’s correspondent in London visited the quiet, upscale neighborhood where Asma al-Assad’s family home is located. The discreet property, which was previously occupied by Asma along with her parents, has remained under scrutiny as speculation about the Assad family's financial assets abroad continues to grow.

The investigative team attempted to gather further information from individuals familiar with the residence, including a former associate of Asma al-Assad. However, the individual declined to comment, only stating:
"I haven’t been in touch for a while, so I don’t know where she is."

Additionally, a local postman told Kurdistan24 that he had not delivered any mail to the address in a long time, further adding to the mystery surrounding the home.

Uncovering the Details

Through its extensive inquiry, Kurdistan24 has verified that the house was purchased on August 12, 2012, under the names of Asma al-Assad’s parents, at a time when the Syrian uprising had already gained momentum. The property was acquired for £650,000 (approximately $750,000 at the time) and has since appreciated in value, now estimated to be worth over $1.2 million.

Further investigation revealed additional insights into how Bashar and Asma al-Assad met in London and details regarding the restaurants and locations frequently visited by Asma and her family during their time in the UK.

Broader Implications

As scrutiny of Syrian political figures’ foreign assets intensifies, this revelation raises further questions about the Assad family's wealth, investments, and the potential legal actions that could be taken to reclaim such assets for the Syrian people.
