ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Meteorologists predict heavy wave of rain and snowfall, covering all Kurdistan Region Provinces in the coming days, bringing a significant drop in temperatures.

Meanwhile, local farmers express renewed hope as recent rainfall has positively impacted agriculture.

Meteorologist Mohammed Kamal told Kurdistan 24 on Saturday, that weather forecasts indicate widespread rainfall across the Kurdistan Region late tomorrow night, accompanied by a further drop in temperatures.

"Starting from the evening of Thursday, February 20, 2025, a wave of snowfall and rain will spread across the region," Kamal explained. "Snowfall is expected even in city centers, and this weather pattern will continue intermittently. The strongest wave is forecasted for Feb.26 and 27, 2025."

While the cold and wet conditions might disrupt daily life, they bring much-needed relief to farmers, who rely on winter precipitation for their crops.

Ali Kurdi, a farmer from the Branti area in Erbil province, shared his optimism with Kurdistan 24.

"This month’s rainfall has rekindled hope for us farmers," he said. "If the rain continues, it will benefit not only wheat crops but also groundwater levels and all agricultural products."

With ongoing climate challenges, the anticipated rainfall is expected to improve soil moisture and support agricultural sustainability across the region.
