ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Mazloum Abdi, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), on Thursday welcomed a message from Abdulla Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), calling for disarmament and a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Turkey.

Speaking on Thursday, Abdi clarified that Ocalan’s message pertains only to the PKK and does not apply to the SDF in Syria. However, he emphasized that if peace is achieved in Turkey, it would remove any justification for further attacks on Syrian territory.

Describing Ocalan’s statement as a positive step, Abdi expressed hope that it would pave the way for an end to the conflict and the beginning of a peaceful political process in Turkey. His remarks signal optimism about de-escalation and a potential shift toward stability in the region.
