PM Barzani Welcomes Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Discusses Bilateral Ties with Italy

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday hosted Nicolò Fontana, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, for a meeting in Erbil. The discussion was also joined by Tommaso Sansoni, the Consul General of Italy in the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in Iraq’s political and social situation, as well as exploring opportunities to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the Kurdistan Region and Italy.
Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the significance of strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in areas of governance reform, economic collaboration, and trade. The discussions focused on the continued support for the Kurdistan Regional Government's efforts toward improving public sector efficiency and fostering business and trade relations.
