Iraq Braces for Dust Storms with Cooler Temperatures on the Horizon

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology has announced that dust storms are expected to continue across several regions in the coming days, accompanied by a welcome drop in temperatures.

On Friday, the organization reported a shift in weather patterns, forecasting lower temperatures throughout the country. Sulaimani is expected to see a comfortable 28°C, Duhok 30°C, and both Erbil and Kirkuk are forecasted at 32°C.

As weather conditions change, the Erbil General Directorate of Health is urging residents to take necessary precautions to protect their health during dust storms. In a public advisory, the Directorate emphasized the importance of staying safe and shared the following guidelines:

1. Keep doors and windows closed and ensure indoor spaces are kept clean.

2. Wear a mask when going outdoors and cover your living spaces regularly.

3. Avoid going out unless absolutely necessary.

4. Stay well-hydrated, especially when driving or spending time outdoors.

5. Maintain a healthy diet by consuming fruits and vegetables.

6. Avoid close contact with pets such as dogs and cats.

7. In case of emergencies, residents are encouraged to call the hotline at 122.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary. In the meantime, residents are advised to remain cautious and prioritize their well-being.
