President Barzani Receives New Palestinian CG in Erbil
President Barzani expressed his hope for an end to the suffering endured by the Palestinian people and called for a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian cause.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Masoud Barzani received Ambassador Maher Al-Karaki, the newly appointed Consul General of Palestine in Erbil, on Tuesday in Pirmam. The meeting served as a reaffirmation of the historic and deeply rooted ties between the Kurdish and Palestinian peoples, underlining shared struggles and mutual aspirations for justice and self-determination.
According to an official statement from Barzani's headquarters, Consul General Al-Karaki conveyed the warm greetings and respect of President Mahmoud Abbas and the leadership and people of Palestine to President Barzani.
Al-Karaki expressed deep appreciation for the longstanding relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Palestine and emphasized the importance of nurturing and expanding the bonds of friendship and cooperation.
In response, President Barzani reflected on the history of Kurdish-Palestinian relations, particularly during the formative phases of the Palestinian national struggle. He referenced his longstanding connections with both the late President Yasser Arafat and current President Mahmoud Abbas, stating that the Kurdish people have always maintained their support for the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.
"The causes of peoples, even when they encounter setbacks or periods of stagnation, never truly end," President Barzani remarked during the meeting. He expressed his hope for an end to the suffering endured by the Palestinian people and called for a comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian cause.
