ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday met with participants of the 20th session of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Cadres Development Institute in Pirmam, where he emphasized the importance of party cadres in strengthening national unity, Kurdish identity, and public service.

Barzani gathered with institute supervisors, faculty members, and party cadres taking part in the KDP’s elite political training course on May 21, 2025. During the meeting, he congratulated the attendees on the launch of the new session and expressed his hope for their success in fulfilling their responsibilities to the Kurdistani people.

Barzani also underscored the historical significance of the KDP’s legacy, the sacrifices made throughout the Kurdish struggle, and the enduring values of the Barzani doctrine. He stressed that party cadres must play a key role in reinforcing Kurdish national consciousness and self-confidence, especially during a time of regional uncertainty and political fragility in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Importantly, Barzani reiterated that the duty of a KDP cadre is to serve all people of Kurdistan without discrimination and to safeguard the core values and achievements of the Kurdish movement. He described the cadre’s mission as one of responsibility, not privilege — aimed at ensuring dignity, equality, and commitment to the cause of the Kurdish nation.

In the latter part of the gathering, Barzani addressed the current political climate, offering guidance on navigating internal and regional challenges. He reflected on the shifting dynamics across the Middle East and emphasized the importance of political awareness, adaptability, and resilience among the new generation of political leaders.

The KDP Cadre Development Institute plays a critical role in shaping the next generation of Kurdish political leaders by educating them on party ideology, Kurdish history, and public service ethics. Established as a training ground for KDP members, the institute reflects the party's ongoing efforts to professionalize governance and leadership amid evolving challenges in the Kurdistan Region.

President Barzani, a central figure in Kurdish politics and former president of the Kurdistan Region, remains a symbolic leader of the Kurdish national movement. His continued engagement with party institutions reflects both a legacy of leadership and a strategic vision for the region’s future.
