PM Barzani, US Interior Secretary Discuss Strengthening Strategic Ties

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with United States Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum in Washington on Thursday to discuss strengthening strategic ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and reviewing recent developments in Iraq and the broader Middle East. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a strong partnership to address regional challenges and promote mutual interests.

Secretary Burgum described the Kurdistan Region as a key ally of the United States, praising the growing cooperation between American companies and the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted the alignment of this partnership with the U.S. government’s commitment to leveraging energy resources for regional peace and prosperity.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his appreciation for continued American support and reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s role as a pillar of peace and stability in Iraq and the wider region.
