Kata'ib Hezbollah Threatens U.S. Interests in Region, Urges Iraq to Expel American Forces Amid Israel-Iran Conflict

“If America dares to intervene in the war, we will directly target its interests and military bases spread across the region without hesitation,” the Secretary-General of Iraq’s Kata'ib Hezbollah militia warned.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Secretary-General of Iraq’s Kata'ib Hezbollah militia, Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, warned Sunday that Iran does not require foreign military support to confront Israel and threatened U.S. interests in the region should Washington intervene in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

“The Islamic Republic does not need any military assistance from anyone to deter the criminal Zionist entity,” Hamidawi said in a statement issued by the group, officially known as the Islamic Resistance - Kata'ib Hezbollah.

He stressed that while Iran is “courageously and steadfastly” facing what he described as Zionist aggression, Kata'ib Hezbollah is closely monitoring the movements of the U.S. military in the region. “If America dares to intervene in the war, we will directly target its interests and military bases spread across the region without hesitation,” he warned.

The statement urged the Iraqi government, members of the Shiite Coordination Framework, and other “patriotic actors” to take responsibility and “adopt a courageous position to prevent the war from expanding.” Specifically, the group called for the closure of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the expulsion of American troops from Iraq, labeling them “the clearest and most dangerous threat to Iraq’s security and regional stability.”

The announcement comes amid growing fears that the conflict between Israel and Iran, which erupted into direct military confrontation in recent days, could spiral into a wider regional war involving other actors, including Iran-backed militias in Iraq and Yemen.

Kata'ib Hezbollah is a powerful Iran-aligned Iraqi militia designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization. It has previously been involved in attacks on American forces and diplomatic missions in Iraq and is a key component of the Islamic Resistance axis that supports Tehran’s strategic objectives across the region.
