Kurdistan Region President Welcomes Trump’s Announcement of Iran-Israel Ceasefire
“I welcome President @realDonaldTrump’s announcement of Iran-Israel ceasefire,” Barzani wrote. “I firmly believe that the only viable path toward lasting stability, security, and prosperity in the Middle East lies in inclusive, constructive dialogue and mutual understanding among all parties.”

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Tuesday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, calling it a crucial step toward restoring peace in the Middle East.
In a post on the social media platform X, Barzani expressed support for the move, emphasizing the need for diplomatic engagement to resolve longstanding regional tensions.
He also extended appreciation to Trump and other world leaders for what he described as their “commitment to diplomacy and peaceful resolution of conflicts at this critical time.”
Barzani’s message comes amid heightened tensions in the region following a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, triggered by a series of Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. While details of the ceasefire remain fluid, the U.S. administration has claimed a “complete and total” truce has been agreed upon by both parties.
As the President of the Kurdistan Region that maintains diplomatic relations with both Western and regional powers, Barzani has long advocated for dialogue over confrontation in the region’s deeply complex political landscape.
His statement adds to a growing chorus of international figures urging all sides to commit to de-escalation and seek lasting peace through diplomatic means.
