Iraq Welcomes US-Brokered Ceasefire Between Iran and Israel
The Ministry praised the move and reaffirmed Iraq’s steadfast commitment to peaceful and diplomatic solutions to resolving regional crises.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday welcomed the United States' diplomatic initiative that resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel, calling it a significant step toward de-escalation and stability in the Middle East.
In an official statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry said: “We welcome the US initiative that led to a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel, a step that represents a positive development toward de-escalation and stability in the region.”
The Ministry praised the move and reaffirmed Iraq’s steadfast commitment to peaceful and diplomatic solutions to resolving regional crises. It emphasized the importance of safeguarding the security and safety of people across the region and preventing any further expansion of the conflict.
The statement stressed the "need for full commitment to implementing the ceasefire, given its critical importance in calming the situation and creating a suitable environment for resuming dialogue and negotiations."
Iraq also congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran on its decision to engage in the ceasefire, expressing hope that this development would serve as a foundation for a lasting and comprehensive resolution to ongoing tensions.
“This step could mark the beginning of a genuine path toward peace through diplomatic frameworks and mutual understanding,” the statement concluded.
