ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Several explosions were heard overnight in Kirkuk, reportedly resulting in one person being injured, according to Kurdistan24's correspondent in Kirkuk.

Hemin Dalo, Kurdistan24 correspondent in Kirkuk, reported that one of the missiles struck a civilian residence in Urouba neighborhood, inflicting significant material damage to the home. Security forces retrieved fragments of the projectile for investigation to determine its source.

The homeowner told Kurdistan24, “All of our family members were inside the house, but fortunately, no one was physically harmed. However, the house has suffered heavy financial damage.”

In a separate incident, Kurdistan24’s Soran Kamaran reported that two other missiles landed within the perimeter of Kirkuk International Airport, causing damage to airport infrastructure and injuring one individual. Despite the strike, flight operations were not disrupted.

A heavy deployment of security personnel has since been stationed around the airport to secure the area and assist with the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, an Iraqi security source revealed early Tuesday that the country’s air defenses had downed an unidentified drone near the Beiji refinery in Salahaddin province. The source noted that the drone was flying at a low altitude near the facility before being intercepted, and no casualties or material damage were reported.

Military engineering and national intelligence teams have arrived at the site to investigate the drone and trace its origin. The incident comes amid heightened security concerns following Monday night’s missile attacks on Kirkuk International Airport.
