ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) — Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has expressed appreciation for Qatar's stance during recent hostilities, praising Doha’s condemnation of what Iran described as violations of its sovereignty. The remarks were made during a phone conversation with Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Advisor to the Qatari Defense Minister, according to Mehr News Agency, affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In the call, Mousavi thanked the Qatari leadership for what he called its “valuable stance” in denouncing the attackers. “Qatar is one of the countries that has firmly supported the struggle of the oppressed Palestinian people,” he stated.

Addressing the recent 12-day conflict with Israel, Mousavi asserted that “Iran's legitimacy in the 12-day Israeli-imposed war was proven to the world,” adding that it became evident that “the United States and the Zionist regime do not adhere to any international principle or norm.”

He claimed that throughout the confrontation, the United States “spared no effort in supporting the Zionist regime, providing full intelligence and logistical support in defending against Iran’s missile and drone attacks.” Mousavi maintained that Iran’s military had responded decisively, stating: “The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran stood firmly against bullying and responded to the aggressors with full power.”

On the Qatari side, Al Attiyah reaffirmed his country’s rejection of military escalation. “From the beginning of the war, Qatar condemned the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and made it clear to all parties that the Qatari government would not allow its airspace or territory to be used for war purposes,” he said. He also emphasized Doha’s consistent call for resolving tensions through diplomatic channels.

The phone call highlights the complex regional alignments amid growing concerns over escalation between Iran and Israel, following a sharp intensification of hostilities that has drawn international attention and diplomatic engagement across the Gulf and beyond.
