Tensions in Erbil’s Khabat District and the Attitude of Iran's Official Media
Kurdistan24 News Follow-up and Analysis:
Following the tension in Erbil’s Khabat district due to land disputes, both official and unofficial Iranian media published numerous reports on the situation. They framed this dispute as the onset of a revolution against the Kurdistan Region authorities, eagerly commenting on the issue and highlighting that the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) are positioned near the borders of the Kurdistan Region to respond to any developments. Additionally, they noted that political factions aligned with them are in agreement to escalate tensions.
These reports signify a form of direct interference in the internal affairs of the Kurdistan Region, which contradicts the official stance of Islamic Republic of Iran officials during discussions with representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The portrayal by the Iranian media has frequently deviated from the reality of events and ignored shared interests. In such a sensitive regional context, it is the media's moral obligation to foster peace and stability.
Ensuring the safety and property of all citizens has been the top priority for the region's security agencies and police. They have handled the rights of individuals with great care and have sought to avoid causing harm without justification. However, the rule of law will prevail, and the security and stability of the Kurdish people will not be compromised.
