ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a new wave of import tariffs targeting six countries, including a 30% tariff on goods imported from Iraq.

The decision, shared via Trump’s Truth Social account, places a 30% duty on imports from Iraq, Algeria, and Libya. Additionally, a 25% tariff will apply to goods from Brunei and Moldova, while products from the Philippines will face a 20% levy.

This move is part of Trump’s broader protectionist trade agenda, which aims to reduce the U.S. trade deficit and strengthen domestic industry.

The announcement comes amid rising global trade tensions, as countries increasingly adjust their economic policies in response to shifting geopolitical and economic dynamics.
