Drone Strike Kills One, Injures Another in Sulaimani’s Penjwen District

A drone attack struck a motorcycle in Shiwagwzan village near Sulaimani, killing one rider and injuring another. Penjwen district authorities are investigating the unidentified perpetrators behind Saturday’s midday strike.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A drone strike on Saturday morning targeted a motorcycle carrying two individuals in the Shiwagwzan village of Garmak subdistrict, Penjwen district in Sulaimani province, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of another, according to local authorities.

Attack Occurred Midday in Rural Border Region

Hemn Ibrahim, the mayor of Penjwen, told Kurdistan24 that the strike occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. “The two individuals were riding a motorcycle when they were hit by the drone,” he stated, confirming that one of the riders was killed instantly while the other sustained injuries.

Perpetrators Remain Unknown as Investigations Begin

The identity of the entity behind the drone strike remains unclear. Local security forces immediately arrived at the scene and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
