ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a targeted raid in northern Syria, United States Central Command (CENTCOM) forces killed a senior ISIS leader and his two adult sons, the command announced on Friday, stating the individuals posed a direct threat to U.S. and Coalition forces.

The operation took place early in the morning in the city of al Bab, located in the Aleppo Governate. CENTCOM identified the senior leader as Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani, who was killed alongside his two ISIS-affiliated sons, Abdallah Dhiya al-Hardani and Abd al-Rahman Dhiya Zawba al-Hardani.

According to the official statement, the operation was conducted to neutralize a threat to regional stability. The ISIS individuals were described as posing a threat to "US and Coalition Forces, as well as the new Syrian Government."

The announcement also noted the presence of non-combatants at the location of the raid. The statement confirmed that, "Three women and three children were also on the target and were unharmed."

In the announcement, General Michael Erik Kurilla, the commander of U.S. Central Command, underscored the ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism operations in the region and the relentless nature of the campaign against the terrorist group.

“We will continue to relentlessly pursue ISIS terrorists wherever they are," said General Kurilla. "ISIS terrorists are not safe where they sleep, where they operate, and where they hide. Alongside our partners and allies, U.S. Central Command is committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS terrorists that threaten the region, our allies, and our homeland.”
