Bahraini Ambassador Praises President Barzani’s Leadership and Kurdistan Region’s Strategic Role

Talks highlighted plans to launch direct flights between Erbil and Manama, and open Bahrain’s Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region’s capital.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — President Masoud Barzani on Monday received Khalid Ahmed Mansour, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Iraq, at his residence in Pirmam, Erbil, to discuss political developments and ways to enhance bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the latest political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government of Iraq, according to a statement released by Barzani Headquarters following the talks.

Ambassador Mansour expressed his appreciation for President Barzani’s leadership, vision, and wisdom in managing the Kurdistan Region, and praised the Region's strong position within Iraq and the broader region.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continued support for the Kurdistan Region and highlighted efforts to expand economic ties between the two sides. As part of these efforts, the ambassador revealed that Bahrain is working toward launching direct flights between Manama and Erbil in the near future.

In addition, the Bahraini envoy announced plans to open Bahrain’s consulate in Erbil, underscoring Manama’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic engagement with the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting reflects a broader trend of Gulf nations, including Bahrain, seeking to bolster their presence and cooperation with Iraq's Kurdistan Region, seen as a stable and economically viable gateway for regional partnerships.
