Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani welcomed local and international guests, along with government officials, and emphasized that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) remains dedicated to implementing development projects that provide lasting benefits for citizens.
"I am delighted that, just one year after laying the foundation stone, we have gathered here today to inaugurate this modern park," Barzani said. "Its name itself reflects the authenticity, heritage, and long history of coexistence in our country."
The Prime Minister said the park would serve as an important recreational and social space for families, children, and young people, while also enhancing the city's landscape and contributing to Ankawa's appeal as a destination for residents and visitors.
He also highlighted one of the park's most prominent features—the tallest Kurdistan flagpole in Iraq—which has been erected within the park grounds.
"Behind me stands the tallest Kurdistan flagpole in Iraq, erected within this park, and that is a source of pride," he said.
Barzani reaffirmed his cabinet's commitment to continuing infrastructure and environmental projects, stressing that expanding green public spaces is essential to improving public health and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Expressing satisfaction with the Kurdistan Region's ongoing development, he said the government would continue investing in projects that make cities more attractive and livable.
"You all deserve even greater services," Barzani said. "Together with you, we will continue doing everything within our power to build a healthier society for ourselves and to create an even more welcoming environment for tourists and visitors. Today, we are proud to place another of these achievements at the service of our citizens."
The inauguration of Ganatha D Babel Park forms part of the KRG's broader strategy to expand urban green spaces and modern public facilities across the Kurdistan Region, aiming to improve environmental sustainability, encourage tourism, and enhance residents' quality of life.
